CREW PROFILES


ED HANDASYDE-DICK

Captain

Coming from the Southwest of England, Ed grew up racing dinghies and cruising various cold and interesting parts of Europe. Passionate about sailing, Ed competed on both dinghies and keelboats at national and international regattas. Having been the Mate on Ranger, Ed is enjoying the step up to Captain with an exciting programme and a great team. When not sailing, Ed can be found skiing down mountains.

EMILY WESTLAKE

Cook / Stewardess

Emily is passionate about cooking and sailing. She grew up sailing on her parent’s boat, mostly being taken across the English Channel in the rain, she relishes the challenge and sunshine that cooking on Ranger has to offer. She offers interesting, varied and healthy cooking to the Owner, Guests and Crew. When not in the galley Emily is found on the beach, a wakeboard or skiing in the mountains.

NICK IRONSIDE

Engineer

Nick grew up sailing and racing on the west coast of Scotland, progressing through the national squad system. Heading to university to study naval architecture he continued racing dinghies and keelboats. Whilst in New Zealand he found engineering on yachts and after 4 years on various boats joined Ranger in early 2016.

HANNAH MCALLISTER

Stewardess

Hannah grew up sailing and racing on the West Coast of Scotland where she calls home. After training as a sail maker when she left school, she then went on to coaching dinghy sailing and yachting. Her first experience of big boat sailing was a delivery in 2012 from Dartmouth (South West England) to Palma - she loved it so much, she decided to become a stewardess full time. Hannah is very excited to be part of the Ranger team.

TRACY BRIDGES

Chief / Stewardess

Tracy was born in Berkshire, England. She discovered sailing in the Mediterranean where she joined a 92ft yacht for over 2 years before going to New Zealand to set up a provisioning business for the two America Cups that were held there. She then joined a large modern classic racing in Antigua, the Tall Ships Race and also the Transatlantic Challenge until joining Ranger in June 2007.

WILL GIBBON

Mate

Will grew up sailing dinghies and small keelboats on the east coast of the UK. Will spent two years working as a sailmaker and racing keelboats in the UK and sailing with classic boats in the Med before joining a Classic Fife as a full time deckhand. Will joined Ranger at the end of the 2015 season as deckhand but has now moved up to be Mate and is looking forward to a busy but exciting season!

JONATHAN CULLY

Deckhand

Jonathan (JC) hails from the beautiful northeastern Irish coast where he learnt to sail at a young age in Belfast Lough. JC is a passionate sailor, coming through youth development squads, competing at a national and international level in dinghies and keelboats. He moved to offshore racing and cruising and has now found his dream job on Ranger. JC's home club is Royal Ulster Yacht where Sir Thomas Lipton had Shamrock V registered. This proud history inspired him from the age of 10 to one day sail a J Class. He is very excited to be on board the mighty Ranger. When he isn't on the water he enjoys playing the saxophone, cycling and exploring new places.

DYLAN COX

Deckhand

Growing up dinghy racing in Lyttelton, New Zealand, Dylan developed a passion for sailing. He studied marine design and became a qualified boat builder. After working in the commercial boating field he travelled to Europe and found super yachts, working and racing on a 35m ketch. Having joined Ranger, he looks forward to adding to the team.
